A Grounded Theory Study on Experience of Spouse of Stroke Patient


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to construct a substantive theory about the experience of the spouse of strode patient in the hospital. The subjects were 3 wives and 1 husband. In the process of data analysis, 'burden' was found to be the core
phenomenon.
And the properties of burden were 'stress', 'sense of inability', 'pyschological imbalances'. Eight hypotheses were derived from the integration of categories as follows :
1. The stronger the stinulus as percieved by subjects, the stronger the burden will be.
2. The stronger the burden, the more the strenuousness will experience.
3. The stronger the burden, the more the stress will experience.
4. The stronger the burden, the more the stuffiness will experience.
5. The stronger the burden, the more the sense of inability will experience.
6. The stronger the burden, the more the psychological imbalances will experience.
7. The subject experiences the burden will appears the active and passive patterns of coping.
8. The subject experiences the burden will appears the negative feeling.
